Are you a confused Millennial wanting to fit in with the younger generation with their iconic sense of style? Well, here’s your ultimate guide to Gen Z fashion trends as seen on your For You Page on TikTok, ok boomer?

First, let's find your TikTok aesthetic.

Before you select your clothes, you have to establish which TikTok aesthetic you are most drawn to. There are plenty of style aesthetics such as: e-girl/e-boy, soft pastels, art hoe, athleisure, streetwear, and many more. Of course, you can always switch from one aesthetic to another. There are plenty of days in the week to play around with each aesthetic!

1. E-girl/E-boy

This is for all the emo and alternative kids. Lots of accessories (chain belts, chunky chain necklaces with padlocks, silver earrings, face piercings). Of course, complete the look with colourful dyed hair, bold makeup and painted black nails. Now, you’re ready to join the Black Parade and rebel against your parents.

2. Soft girl/Pastels

This is the complete opposite of an e-girl. Pastel colours are what you’re looking out for. Anything dainty and innocent (small-pendant jewelry, cute hair clips and scrunchies, and fuzzy socks).

3. Athleisure & Streetwear

Nike, Adidas, Champion, Supreme, Stüssy, Off-White are several of the many popular streetwear brands rocking the streets today. They’re comfortable and baggy, popularized by style icons such as Billie Eilish and Emma Chamberlain.

4. Art Hoe

Anything that screams out that you’re an art or film major. Fjällräven Kånken backpacks, quirky sweaters, mom jeans, overalls, printed socks, patches & enamel pins, and anything that’s YELLOW.

5. Your Own Aesthetic

Don’t like any of these popular aesthetics? Well, it’s fashion and you can wear whatever you’d like to truly express yourself with! Combine all 4 aesthetics or make up your own.

Now, here comes the fun part!

Once you’ve got an idea of what you want to wear, let’s select your clothes and accessories! Here at ÀLA.HAUSSE you’ll be able to find thousands of selections that will fit your style! Just search for a keyword, and boom! Numerous items will show up that match your search, categorized by size, colour, style, and brand! But first, here’s a list on what you should look for:

Crop Tops

Everyone can rock crop tops! No matter what body shape or size you are, you’ll look gorgeous! I’m sure you’ve seen famous TikToks of Charli and Dixie D’Amelio dancing in a simple crop top and sweatpants with millions of views and likes. They’re trendy for a reason, why not try it out?

No more skinny jeans or “jeggings” here, NOPE! We’re all for those cargo pants, mom jeans, distressed jeans, high-waisted, corduroy, and funky prints. Better yet, check out this blog on tips on how to DIY your plain blue jeans to fit the current TikTok trends!

Oversized Hoodies & Sweaters

I think it’s safe to say that we’ve ALL been lounging around in a pair of oversized hoodies and sweatpants during the entirety of quarantine right? TikTokers such as Bella Poarch have made oversized hoodies look adorable in their TikToks. We can assure you that the oversized hoodie will not go out of style. You can even crop these oversized hoodies to show off your figure if you’d like!

There are millions of accessories to choose from which can complete your outfit. And depending on your aesthetic, you can really change up an outfit by switching up the accessories that go with it! Feeling that teenage angst as an e-girl/e-boy? Pile on those chunky silver chains and necklaces! Feeling a bit laid back? Throw on a bucket hat and tiny tinted sunglasses. So many possibilities!

Fanny packs, crossover bags, and small 2000’s-inspired handbags are all the rage right now. Bags really are a necessity when clothing brands are producing smaller and smaller pockets for women (ugh!)

I’m sure you’ve seen at least ten people on your TikTok FYP with the same hairstyle by now. Yeah! The one with two bleached streaks at the front that are dyed red, pink, green, blue, purple, or any bright colour! It’s really all the craze right now, especially after Jennie from BlackPink joined the bandwagon.

With many people getting bored during quarantine and hair salons closed due to the lockdown, many people have experimented (and perhaps regretted) cutting their own bangs. Curtain bangs are the most popular right now as they frame the face without committing to full front bangs which take longer to grow out.

And as mentioned earlier, most people have come up with creative ways on how to style their hair using colourful hair barrettes, scrunchies, and butterfly clips. Or if you’ve suffered the consequences of quarantine DIY dyeing or bleaching, then hiding your hair in a bucket hat, French beret, or a ‘dad’ baseball hat is a good option too!
